Ian Tong

Ian's images of Jimmy Hendrix's Electric Lady Studio resonate with color and sound. In his absence the rock star that was Hendrix looms larger.

Kristin Anderson

Our Script shows alongside the Annunciation.
With the Annunciation and Save Me, as well as a new work in progress, Anderson shows how the idea of religion permeates our everyday life, influencing not only what we see, but how we see.

Anthony Lister

Lister's work brings a Baconesque twist to everyday super heroes. Add a dash of sex and you have a full meal of fabulous painting.

Danny Licul

Danny's recent work brings together Rambo, nuns, devils and other random characters in the story of America.

caraballo-farman

caraballo-farman's work is rife with American iconography. You can see examples here too.

Carla Gannis

Gannis's work is encompasses all three groups; rock stars, super heroes and religious icons. Here is one of them:

Ivars Drulle

Ivars Drulle recreates the death of Michael Jackson in Moment of Death of Michael Jackson. In addition, the artist will create more work around this theme bringing in the Pope, the Beatles and other rock stars, super heroes and religious icons.

About this Blog

This is a project about Rockstars, Super Heroes and Religious Icons. I've gathered a group of diverse artists whose work shares elements from these spheres of influence in modern culture to gauge how these images are filtered through the lens of the artist and regurgitated back into public consciousness. What differs between these three groups and what elements are shared? How do these characters influence our lives? Do they bring us joy, pain, pleasure, entertainment, redemption, fear, guilt, wonder, awe, adoration, anger, pity, indifference? What do the importance of these groups in our lives say about us?
Installations, including sound and video, by Ivars Drulle, Carla Gannis, Kristin Anderson and caraballo-farman.
Live performances by our rock stars, whoever I decide can perform in Paris, will be scheduled for the opening night and/or during the exhibition.
